| Sign up on the first day of the Dallas Zoo's annual photo contest. The annual competition is open to everyone from children to experienced professionals. Categories include: children (12 and under), junior (ages 13 to 18 years), novice (beginners to non-professionals), and advanced (considerable experience to professionals). Discover the nocturnal side of the Dallas Zoo with an Overnight experience for your scout, church, or other organized group. Learn about the fascinating world of animals through activities, special talks, and tours of the Zoo at night. Designed for children age 7 to 13, Overnight groups may vary in size from 15 to 75. Overnights are not exclusive to your group and we may book multiple groups in one night. Overnights require one chaperone per four participants. The event will include: - An after-hours tour of ZooNorth.
- A late night snack (eat dinner before you come) and a continental breakfast.
- Up close encounters with some of our Education animals.
- An official Dallas Zoo "Lights Out" overnight patch for each youth participant.
- A morning Monorail Safari ride (weather dependent; first train leaves the station at 9:30 a.m.).
- Entrance to the Zoo the following day for all participants and chaperones.

Bowling for Rhinos

Running for Rhinos

8 to 11 a.m. | Charge through the Zoo on a 5K race or amble along on a 1K family fun run and raise money for conservation. The 5K race starts at the Zoo entrance and concludes at Cat Green in ZooNorth. The family fun run begins at 8:15 a.m. and the course remains inside the Zoo. Family, friends, and spectators will celebrate at the end of the race with a party and awards ceremony. Race participants can enjoy the Zoo at a slower pace the rest of the day.
